Criminal Background Checks

The records bureau is glad to assist with criminal history background checks through the State of Georgia only. Criminal history background checks are $10 each, cash only. The service is normally performed while you wait, providing the state computer system is online.

The Records Section can process G.C.I.C. (Georgia Crime Information Center) Criminal History requests for the following reasons:

• Employment
• Personal reasons (We do not accept requests for housing or apartment purposes)
• Volunteering for churches, recreational departments, non-profit organizations, etc.

Criminal History requests must be made in person and the individual or requestor must reside in Richmond County. A consent form must be completely filled out and signed. The individual must be at least 17 years old and must also present a valid state driver's license, United States Government issued I.D. card, United States Military I.D. card or United States passport and an original Social Security card. If your Social Security card is unavailable, please go to the Social Security Office to obtain this information before requesting a background check.

Background checks are available Tuesday - Thursday from 9am - 3pm by appointment only.
