HOW DO I GET AN RCSO REPORT?

Certain types of Sheriff's Office reports are available for release to authorized parties. To obtain a copy of your report, please visit the Records Bureau in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office at 400 Walton Way during normal business hours (8:30 am until 5 pm Monday through Friday. You will need to provide a case number and other identifying information, and you must be a named, involved party to the case or an authorized representative to a named, involved party to the case in order to request and receive a copy of the report.

Report Suspected Gang Activity

If you have an emergency needing immediate response or wish to report a crime IN PROGRESS, call 911.

If you wish to report suspected gang activity but want to remain anonymous click here to submit an anonymous tip online. You will remain completely anonymous. However, remember you may be eligible for a reward if your information leads to an arrest.

You may also call or visit the Sheriff's Office from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Learn About Victims Rights

The Georgia Crime Victims Bill of Rights mandates that the criminal justice system provide service notification of the case to crime victims throughout all phases of the criminal justice process. The Crime Victims Bill of Rights outlines the responsibilities of victims, law enforcement and the judiciary in providing crime victims the rights available incorporated in the context of the criminal justice system. Victims of the following crimes should be notified:

  • Crimes against persons
  • Sex Crimes
  • Burglary
  • Arson
  • Forgery
  • Sale or distribution of Harmful Materials to Minors
  • Homicide by Vehicle
  • Feticide by Vehicle
  • Serious Injury by Vehicle

Get Fingerprinted

Fingerprints are no longer offered to the public through the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. Fingerprints are now handled through outside local companies.

Felony sex offenders must report to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office located at 400 Walton Way annually to be fingerprinted and photographed no later than 72 hours prior to their birthdays

Request A Concealed Weapons Permit

Concealed Weapons Permits allow qualified Richmond County residents to legally carry a concealed weapon. These permits are issued by the Richmond County Probate Court.

To apply for a concealed weapons permit, you must be a resident of Richmond County, Georgia, residing in Richmond County for a minimum of three months. You will need a photo identification (such as a Driver's license or Georgia ID card) proof of residency and/or proof of legal presence in the U.S. if you are not a U.S. citizen. You must be at least 21 years old.

Visit an Inmate

Inmate Visitation is allowed on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until noon. Visitors must be signed in by noon. Inmates may only receive one 30 minute visit per visitation day.

It is the inmate's responsibility to submit a Visitation Request form as well as notify the visitor. Jail employees will not relay messages to inmates pertaining to visitation, nor will they provide information to visitors over the phone as to the Visitation Request form.

Visitors usually go to the visitation booths (face-to-face visits) on the half-hour (for example: 8, 8:30, 9, etc.). The order of visitation is determined by the order in which a visitor signs in. Visitor Center (Video Visitation) hours are 8 a.m. – noon. Visits are immediate on a “first come, first served” basis.

Become A Reserve Deputy

The Richmond County Sheriff's Reserve is a unit formed to support the Sheriff's Office operational and administrative efforts.

Reservists must be certified by the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council, meet the same requirements as a normal paid deputy and will have all the same authority as a paid deputy.

Apply to the Citizens Police Academy

The CPA is a 12-week program for Richmond County residents taught by certified Richmond County Sheriff's Instructors in which participants are involved in actual training sessions to get a broader understanding of the police function. Sessions last approximately 90 minutes and participants will meet once a week on a designated evening. Participants must pass a criminal history background check and fill out an application to the Academy.

Commend Superior Performance

If you wish to commend the actions of any Richmond County Sheriff's Deputy or employee you may:
Ask to speak with the employee's supervisor and verbally communicate your commendation.
Write a letter or email the Sheriff's Administration explaining your praise. Correspondence complimenting superior performance by a Richmond County Sheriff's Deputy will be brought to the employee's attention. Additionally, it will be placed in the employee's personnel file.

File A Complaint

Serious complaints, such as criminal misconduct or brutality, are investigated by Internal Affairs. Less serious complaints, such as discourtesy and unprofessional conduct, will normally be investigated by the employee's supervisor. Complaints may be made in person, via regular or electronic email, or by calling the Internal Affairs Division between the hours of 8:30 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) at 706-821-1000
