Narcotics Division

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division’s primary goals are to enforce local, state, and federal statutes which prohibit the possession, use, or distribution of narcotics and other restricted or controlled substances and to prevent and deter the use, possession, trafficking, and sale of illegal narcotics within Augusta-Richmond County through a combination of aggressive law enforcement and public awareness.  

 

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Gang Intelligence Unit’s (GIU) primary goals are to disrupt and dismantle violent street gangs throughout Augusta-Richmond County, decrease gun related violence, and raise awareness of the gang culture that targets the youth of Richmond County.  

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit investigates felony organized criminal activity related to prostitution and gambling in Richmond County. One of the top priorities of the Vice Unit is to investigate the cases where an individual is being forced or compelled into prostitution. 

The Narcotics Division, Gang Intelligence Unit, and Vice Unit have a strong working relationship with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Marshals Service (USMS), Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI), Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE), Georgia State Intelligence Network (GSIN), Georgia Terrorism Information Project (GTIP), Georgia Narcotics Officers Association (GNOA), the District Attorney’s Office, the United States Attorney’s Office, as well as surrounding cities and counties.
