The Richmond County Sheriff's Office would like to show our appreciation to the Shield Club for their support of this agency. On Tuesday, September 29th at 9am, David Alalof on behalf of The Shield Club presented a check to Sheriff Roundtree for $8,500.00 for the purchase of a new canine.  Last month, we retired one of our drug canines and Sheriff Roundtree tasked Lt. Blanchard with coming up with a plan for funding a new canine. David Alalof of the Shield Club was contacted and they were more than happy to be of assistance.  Their donation allowed the Sheriff Office to purchase a dual purpose canine from Southern Coast K-9 that is certified in narcotics detection and tracking. Canine Axle is a 2 year old male that was born on 03/03/13.  Axle has already proven to be very effective this weekend when he helped track down two burglary suspects at a nearby residence just after they had burglarized Bungalow Road Elementary School.  Video footage from the school confirmed their involvement in the burglary; Road Patrol and CST Deputies arrested both suspects without incident.
