Civil Division

The Civil Division is tasked with the responsibility of serving civil processes received from the Courts of Richmond County, as well as other jurisdictions. In addition to civil process service, this division executes court orders that include complaints, summons, writs of possession, protective orders against domestic violence, writs of garnishment and other judgments issued by the courts. For civil processes other than Protective orders there is a service fee of $50.00. The Civil Division is under the direction of Lt. Tracy Carter, and is staffed with one Sergeant, six deputies, and one administrative assistant.

Civil Division deputies serve subpoenas and summons to individuals, corporations, or other entities in the county in accordance with the Georgia Rules of Civil Procedure. These judicial process documents originate from the courts, governmental agencies, and private attorneys in Georgia and throughout the United States.

Civil Division enforces levies and writs of attachment and conducts Sheriff's sales to aid in the collection of money judgments.
